The 14-story Knickerbocker Hotel in Beaux-Arts style, on the southeast corner of Broadway and 42nd Street, was completed in 1906. In 1911 its portico on the sidewalk level of 42nd Street was removed.
The 9-story Hotel Continental (former Hotel Vendome) is on the southeast corner of West 41st Street and Broadway (right). the 7-story Hotel Calvert (former Stuart House is on the northeast corner of W 41st Street. The headquarters of the C.C. Shayne Fur Company is seen at 124 and 126 West 42nd Street, on the left.
