Printing House Square in 1868
This is an illustration showing the Printing House Square in 1868, lithographed by W.C. Rogers & Co. for Jos. Shannon's Manual. In the late 19th century, the area became known as the Newspaper Row and the 4-5 storied buildings became skyscrapers. We can see the signs for The World, Scientific American, New York Times, Tribune, Sunday Times, The Sun and others. Source: Manual of the corporation of the City of New York, 1868.
