Canada is
the second-largest country in the world, located in Northern North America, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean
(east), North Pacific Ocean and
Alaska (west), the Arctic Ocean (north),
and the United States (south). It
shares the longest international border in the world with the United States.
Canadian provinces (10) and territories (3): Alberta, Manitoba, New
Brunswick, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest
Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec,
Saskatchewan, Yukon Territory.
The country has diverse geography encompassing landscapes from the Arctic tundra to the Pacific coast, including mountains, prairies, forests, and numerous rivers and lakes. The highest point is Mount Logan 5,959 m. The major seaports are Halifax, Saint John (New Brunswick) and Vancouver. Baffin Island, located in Nunavut, is the largest island. Canada has a network of national parks protecting various landscapes and ecosystems.
