Hong Kong in the 1990s. It is located at the southeastern part of China on the coast of the South China Sea. Hong Kong consists of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon peninsula, and other smaller surrounding islands. Hong Kong came under British administration as a direct result of the Opium War and it was re-unified with China in 1997.
