Sweden is a country located on the Scandinavian Peninsula in northern Europe, border with Norway. The name Sweden was derived from the Svear, or Suiones, a people mentioned by the Roman author Tacitus. The country’s name was Svithiod in the past. Stockholm has been the capital since 1523.
