The Trinity Church is an Episcopal Parish in New York City. Its charter dates to 1697. Trinity’s north churchyard was used as a public burial ground as early as the 1660s, when it lay outside the city’s walls. This is its third temple located at 89 Broadway, facing Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan. It was erected in Gothic style from 1839 to 1846. At the time, Broadway was Manhattan's main thoroughfare, connecting the Battery to the City Hall Park area and continuing north. Trinity was then the tallest building in the United States, with its 281-foot steeple.
