Hotel Majestic
The Hotel Majestic was located at Central Park West, between 71st Street and 72nd Street, in Manhattan. The hotel was designed by Alfred Zucker and built in 1894. Across 72nd Street is Dakota Apartments, completed ten years before. Hotel Majestic occupied a full block site, had about 600 rooms, bowling alleys and was the first hotel to inaugurate a roof garden. The general entrance was on 72d Street. Three 11-story sections were divided by large courtyards.
The hotel was demolished, in 1929, and replaced by the Art Deco Majestic Apartments, completed in 1931.
