The 14-story Knickerbocker Hotel in Beaux-Arts style, on the southeast corner of Broadway and 42nd Street, was completed in 1906. The hotel closed in 1920 and the structure was transformed into an office building.

In 1988, the building was designated a New York City Landmark for its special historical and aesthetic interest and value as part of the development, heritage and cultural characteristics of New York City. Knickerbocker Hotel reopened in 2015.
