The New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division is in the background, on the northeast corner of 25th Street. It was completed in 1899. The old Hotel Bartholdi, opened in 1885 at 956 Broadway, on the southeast corner of East 23rd Street, is on the right.
Today, Madison Square Park is a playground, an open-air museum, a performance venue and an arboretum surrounded by skyscrapers and landmark architecture.
