Old Broad Street

Photograph above shows the Drexel Building on the left, erected in 1873 by Anthony Joseph Drexel for the headquarters of his firm Drexel, Morgan & Co. It was demolished in 1913 to make way for the present Morgan Guaranty Trust Company Building, at 23 Wall Street. Next to the south is the Mills Building, completed in 1882 and demolished in 1926. The tower of the Produce Exchange, is seen in the distance. It opened at Bowling Green, in 1884. The 11-story Wilks Building, completed in 1890, is on the extreme right.

Photograph below shows, on the left, the Edison Building, eight stories high at 42-44 Broad Street, completed in 1891, between Exchange Place and Beaver Street. It was demolished in 1931. In the distance, we see part of the neoclassical US Sub-Treasury building, on Wall Street, corner of Nassau Street. It was designated the Federal Hall Memorial National Historic Site, in 1939.
