Bowling Green in the 19th Century
This is the Bowling Green between 1850 and 1860, as lithographed by Charles Magnus (1826-1900). The fountain is different from the one that existed in 1845 made of stones. Above, a hand-colored version (Library of Congress) and below, an enlargement b&w (from NYPL) of the part on the left. We can see the Washington Hotel, former Kennedy Mansion and later Washington Building.
