Original title: A view of the Federal Hall of the City of New York, as appeared in the year 1797; with the adjacent buildings thereto. Illustration by George Holland; lith. & printed in colors by Henry R. Robinson, around 1847. John Joseph Holland (c. 1776–1820), sometimes referred to as George Holland, immigrated from England in 1796. He moved to New York City in 1807 where he was scene painter for the New Theatre.
Since 1790, when the national capital was transferred to Philadelphia, the old Federal Hall became the city government until 1812.
