Hotel Windsor, Fifth Avenue - 1894
The Hotel Windsor was opened in 1873 on the east side of Fifth Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets, Midtown Manhattan. It was considered the most comfortable and homelike hotel in New York. On March 17, 1899, during the St. Patrick's Day parade, the hotel was destructed by fire.
Later, the Windsor Arcade was built on the site. The block where Hotel Windsor stood is now occupied by two high-rise buildings.
