Overhead wires were buried after the Great Blizzard of 1888. Photo taken from near the southeast corner of Broadway and 23rd Street, looking up Broadway. Madison Square is to the right. On the left, the old building replaced by the Flatiron building, completed in 1902.
Overhead wires and utility poles were gone.
