Trinity School House - 1920
This is the old Trinity School House, built in 1871 by the Trinity Church, seen from the Trinity Church Grave Yard. Photograph by Percy Loomis Sperr (1890-1964), from the New York Public Library.
The vacant lot, on the left, at 78-86 Trinity Place was occupied by the American Bank Note Co. building until 1920, when it was demolished to make way for the New York Curb Exchange Building (later American Stock Exchange Building), completed in June 1921. Continue below...
A portion of the Sixth Avenue elevated line is also shown on Trinity Place. It was demolished in 1939. Behind Trinity School is the Oakite Cleans building at Thames Street.
The old Trinity Church School House was sold in 1919 and the Wall Street Division of the School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance of the New York University opened in the premises in February, 1920.
