The Park Row Building (13-21 Park Row) is under construction, which began in 1897. The 31-story building, located between Beekman and Ann streets, was completed in July 1899. It was the tallest building in Manhattan at the end of the 19th century. Geo. R. Read was the agent.

Photo also shows pedestrians, streetcars, stores and office buildings on the right. The Post Office building (demolished in 1939) is on the left. The Potter Building (corner of Beekman Street), the American Tract Society Building (Nassau Street and Spruce Street), the Times Building, and the New York World (Pulitzer) Building are visible. The old Astor House is to the right.
