The 1939–1940 New York World's Fair was held at Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens. It opened on April 30, 1939 and closed on October 27, 1940. Over 44 million people attended the exhibitions in two seasons, although the Fair was affected by the World War II, which began on September 1, 1939. Some buildings were retained for the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair, held at the same site.
