Pabst Hotel on 42nd Street and Broadway - 1902

The old 9-story Pabst Hotel on the north side of West 42nd Street, between Broadway and 7th Avenue, looking from Broadway to Long Acre Square, now Times Square. This photo was taken in 1902, when the building was being prepared for demolition, what happened in the early 1903.

The two buildings on this block, the Pabst Hotel, completed in 1899, and the 4-story office building, were acquired by the New York Times to make way for the Times Building, erected in 1904. At the time, the Subway was under construction.

The Victoria Theater, on the corner of West 42nd Street and 7th Avenue (on the right), is showing Primrose & Dockstader's Minstrels.
