Thomas Gibson Crawford (1814-1857) was a sculptor born in New York City best known for the Armed Freedom, a bronze statue atop the dome of the United States Capitol, and for the Washington Memorial in Richmond, Virginia.
Frederick Catherwood (1799 – 1854) was an English artist, architect and explorer, best known for his drawings of the ruins of the Maya civilization. He was elected into the National Academy of Design as an Honorary member.
