Battery Park and Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel - 1952

The granite-faced monumental ventilation building of the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel entrance, between Washington and Greenwich streets, is in the center. The tunnel officially opened in 1950. The Whitehall Building at 17 Battery Place (on the left), was completed in 1904. The 31-story Annex, behind it, on West Street, was completed in 1910. The Washington Building (One Broadway), northwest corner of Battery Place, opened in opened in 1884. It gained its present neoclassical style in a renovation, completed in 1921.
