Bowling Green Park - 1907
Photograph shows the Bowling Green Park, City of New York, looking north from the Custom House. Vintage postcard published by Theodor Eismann (Printed in Germany). Year depicted is about 1907 (Singer Building was under construction, completed in May 1908).
The German Theodor Eismann established his publishing business in 1884, in Germany. In the early 20th century, his company had a branch in New York City.
Bowling Green marks the beginning of Broadway. The Park was created in the 18th century. The Produce Exchange Bank Building, on the right, was completed in 1905 and the Bowling Green Offices (11 Broadway), on the left, was completed in 1898. The Columbia Building at 29 Broadway on the north side of Morris Street (on the left), was completed in 1891. In 1909, it was expanded and lost its 3-story mansard roof.
