The Metropolitan Hotel was a luxury hotel on Broadway, opened in 1852 and it included the renowned Niblo's Theatre. The Metropolitan was designed in the Italian palazzo style by architects John Butler Snook and Joseph Trench. It was considered to be the second luxury hotel build in New York City, after the Astor House (opened in 1836), built by John Jacob Astor. The Metropolitan closed in 1895 and the building was demolished the same year.
