Empire State Building - Vintage Photo
Empire State Building, Fifth Avenue - 34th Street, Midtown Manhattan.
This is a photograph by Underwood & Underwood. The company cease to exist in the early 1940s, but this photo was probably taken before the skyscraper was opened on May 1, 1931, considering the text on the back of the photo: Mighty Empire State Building's Exterior Completed... (source: New York Public Library).
The Empire State Building took almost 20 years to become profitable. Observatories are located on the 86th and 102nd floors, and a small viewing platform is found on the 103rd floor.
