Empire State Building - New York
The construction of this iconic building, located in Midtown Manhattan, started on March 17, 1930, and was officially opened on May 1, 1931. It was the fastest-rising skyscraper ever built and it was the tallest building in the world until 1970, when it was surpassed by the North Tower of the World Trade Center (destroyed in 2001). The Empire State Building is 102 stories high and 381 meters high, plus an antenna, added in 1950, with 68 meters. It contains 63 acres of floor space.
