Hotel Chelsea - 1947

This 12-story building was designed by Hubert & Pirsson and constructed, between 1883 and 1885. It was one 0f the pioneer Victorian Gothic apartment houses in New York.

The Carteret, an apartment building at 208 West 23rd Street, built in 1926, is to the left. The Chabad of Chelsea is to the right.

On the basis of the history, the architecture and other features of this building, it was designated a New York City landmark in 1966 and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
