The Chelsea was designed by Hubert & Pirsson and constructed, between 1883 and 1885. It was one 0f the pioneer Victorian Gothic apartment houses in New York City. The building was designated a New York City landmark in 1966 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
