Hotel Manhattan - 1904
The old Hotel Manhattan on the corner of Madison Avenue and 42nd Street in Manhattan. It opened in 1896 and was demolished in 1961. The hotel was extended in 1901 and the frontage in Madison Avenue became larger, as seen in this photo from Detroit Publishing Company photograph collection (Library of Congress), copyrighted in 1904.
The Grand Central-42nd Street station opened on October 27, 1904, as one of the original 28 stations of the New York City Subway.
