Hoffman House on Madison Square West, in front of Worth Monument, New York City, seen from Fifth Avenue. The William Jenkins Worth obelisk, in the foreground, was dedicated in 1857. On the northwest corner of 25th Street stands the 12-story Townsend Building, at 1123 Broadway, completed in 1897.  Photo taken in 1908 by Detroit Publishing Company, Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division. On the right, another photo taken possibly on the same day.

The Hoffman House, opened in 1864 and expanded several times until 1907, when the 12-story building on the left, the "New Hoffman House" was completed. The Hoffman House Bar entrance is on the Broadway.

Its Moorish annex, on the right, corner of West 25th Street, was designed by architect George Edward Harding and completed in 1894. The Albemarle Hotel, opened in 1860, is to the left. Both, the Albemarle Hotel and Hoffman House were demolished in 1915.
