New York Edition Hotel, Met Life Tower NYC

The former headquarters of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, a New York City landmark completed in 1909, is owned by Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and it is home of the New York Edition Hotel, since 2015.

Located in the the Flatiron District of Manhattan, the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower (Met Life Tower) is an early skyscraper that was the tallest building in the world from 1909 to 1913. The tower originally housed the Metropolitan Life's offices.

The Met Life Tower was sold to Africa Israel Investments in 2007. The company then sold the tower to Marriott International in October 2011. Marriott announced in January 2012 that it was converting the tower to the New York Edition Hotel, one of three boutique hotels in the Edition line. The Edition hotels were sold in January 2013 to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. The property was conveyed to its new owner on its completion. Marriott continues to manage the hotels under long-term contract, and the New York Edition Hotel opened in May 2015.

The Met Life Tower, which overlooks Madison Square Park, has been transformed into a luxury hotel, designed by Ian Schrager, while preserving its history and charm. The hotel’s 271 unique guest rooms and suites feature oak floors and dark oak wood-paneled foyers. Expansive windows frame city views, ranging from Madison Square Park, to the Empire State Building, to the skyline of Manhattan.

The top floor has been converted into the Clocktower restaurant, offering contemporary British cuisine and 360-degree views of New York City. The restaurant comprises three intimate dining rooms, a dedicated billiards room and a lively bar made up entirely of 24k gold leaf, each space with its own personality.
