The Flatiron Building, completed in 1902, is on the right, in the junction of Broadway and Fifth Avenue. Its one-story "cowcatcher" retail space on its front and part of the ground story was leased by the United Cigar Stores Company. The second building of Madison Square Garden (home of the theater from 1890 to 1925) is on northeast of the Madison Square. The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower (the tallest building in the world until 1913) was completed in 1909 on the site of the old Madison Square Presbyterian Church, completed in 1854. The Brunswick Building at 225 Fifth Avenue (at left on this photo) was completed in 1907 (now the Grand Madison).
