Mills & Gibbs Building, Fourth Avenue and 22nd Street - 1918
Photo shows the Mills & Gibbs Building, on the corner of Fourth Avenue (now Park Avenue South) and 22nd Street, Manhattan. This 14-story Italianate building was designed by Starrett & Van Vleck and completed in 1910. It was erected on the site of the old Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church, demolished in 1909.
The adjacent building, on the right, southwest corner of 23rd Street, was erected on the site of the old YMCA Building, demolished in 1903. The 304 Park Avenue South was completed on the site in 1904. On the northwest corner of 23rd Street (right) stands the building that replaced the old National Academy of Design.
