Park Avenue South from Union Square - 1905

 

Forth Avenue (now Park Avenue South) and Park Avenue (from 17th Street to 42nd Street) as seen from Union Square in 1905, looking north towards Grand Central Station.

The section of Fourth Avenue, from East 17th St. to East 32nd St., was officially redesignated as Park Avenue South on May 18, 1959. The avenue continues north as Park Avenue.

12-story Parker Building, completed in 1900 at the southeast corner of Fourth Avenue (later Park Avenue South) and 19th Street. Parker Building and the adjacent Florence Hotel were destroyed by fire on January 10, 1908.
