World Building / Pulitzer Building, New York - 1904
The World Building or the Pulitzer Building as seen from street level at City Hall Park. It was an early skyscraper, completed in 1890. It was the headquarters of the newspaper the New York World run by Joseph Pulitzer (1847-1911). Source: George P. Hall & Son photograph collection / New-York Historical Society.
A Baseball bulleting (Giants x Brooklyn) is showing at the entrance (1904 was a historic year for the New York Giants) and a sign of the St. Louis Fair (April 30 to December 1, 1904) is advertised on the right (see enlargement below). The World Building was demolished in 1955.
The Brooklyn Bridge terminal and the City Hall are to the left.
