American Surety Building and other Buildings in the Financial District - 1920
High view of buildings in the Financial District of Manhattan, with Broadway and Trinity Church yard in the foreground. The buildings on Broadway, between the narrow Pine Street (left) and Wall Street, stand out.
The American Surety Building, at 100 Broadway, was completed in 1896, on the southeast corner of Pine Street. Between 1920 and 1922, the building was extended to include the site of the Schermerhorn Building (96 Broadway) and two floors were added. The Chimney Building (1 Wall Street) is on the southeast corner of Wall Street. The United Bank Building (2 Wall Street) is on the northeast corner of Wall Street.
