Old New York Stock Exchange Building, Broad Street - 1899

The present neoclassic NYSE building at 18 Broad Street, began to be constructed in September 1901 and was completed in April 1903. The Western Union Building, erected after 1885 at 16 Broad Street (left) was bought by the NYSE in 1898. The Wilks Building, to the right, was completed in 1890 and it was demolished in 1920.

The Drexel Building was completed in 1873. It was home of the Drexel Morgan & Co. After Anthony J. Drexel’s death, the company reorganized in 1895 and became J.P. Morgan & Co.
