Sanctuary Hotel
The Sanctuary Hotel New York, originally Hotel Felix Portland, at 132 West 47th Street, located in the heart of the Theatre District and Times Square area, between 6th Avenue and 7th avenues, Midtown Manhattan.
This 9-story historic building, which houses the Sanctuary Hotel today, was originally developed by Mohawk Realty Co. and designed by architect Ralph S. Townsend. It opened in 1901 as Hotel Portland and renamed Hotel Felix Portland by 1911. The hotel went into decline by the mid-20th century. In 2011, it was renovated and reopened as the Sanctuary Hotel New York.
Adjacent to the hotel stands the Gothic temple of the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, completed in 1895, with main entrance at West 46th Street.
The Sanctuary Hotel facilities include the Haven Rooftop and Sushi Lab restaurants, all day La-Colombe Coffee & Tea Station, meeting rooms, lounge, fitness center and much more.
