Photo shows skyscrapers in Lower Manhattan (Downtown New York City). The Canyon of Heroes (Lower Broadway), beginning in Bowling Green (bottom of the photo), is clearly seen in the center of this picture. The Standard Oil building at 26 Broadway is in the center of the image. It was constructed in parts, expanded and renovated several times since the 1880s. Its neoclassical tower was completed in 1924. The Singer Building, seen on the top, was the tallest building in the world from 1908 to 1909, when it was surpassed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower in Madison Square, New York City.
