Todos os Santos Bay - Bahia
The Bay of All Saints (Baía de Todos os Santos) is located in the state of Bahia, being the largest bay in Brazil. It is from her that the name of the state comes. Its surface is 1,052 km² and its depth goes up to 42 meters, with a diving visibility between 10 and 20 meters.
The Portuguese were the first Europeans to explore this immense bay, in 1501. About 1509, the French, Portuguese and Indians lived here together. The first village in the area was founded in 1536 and, in 1549, the first Brazilian city, capital of Brazil, was founded here: the City of Salvador.
