City Hall Park, New York - 1849
Original title: New York City Hall, Park and Environs, 1849. It seems it was drawn from the top of the Astor House, completed in 1836. Along Broadway moves an array of carriages, coaches, and fashionably-dressed pedestrians. Illustration by John Bachmann, published by Williams & Stevens. Copyright July 24, 1849. Source: Library of Congress.
The construction of the City Hall began in 1803, it was dedicated in 1811 and the City Hall opened in 1812. The Croton Fountain was placed in the Park in 1842.
