View of Lower Broadway looking south from the southern end of City Hall Park, showing a street scene with pedestrians, equestrians, carriages, and omnibuses. The five-story Astor House, completed in 1836, is on the right. St. Paul's Chapel is on the southern side of Vesey Street. The spire of the third temple of Trinity Church, dedicated in 1846, is shown in the distance. A sign south of St. Paul's Chapel sign advertizes the daguerreotype studio of Mathew B. Brady (at the corner of Broadway and Fulton Street). On the left is Barnum's Museum at Broadway and Ann Street, a site that it occupied from 1830 to 1865.
