The Chemists' Club in New York was founded in 1898 and the building at 52 East 41st Street was completed in 1911. Its Library was considered the largest chemical library in the United States of America and, in 1913, it was opened to the general public.
Photo likely taken between 1917 and 1923, when it appeared with other photographs of the club in the Chemists' Club newsletter The Percolator for December 1923, on page 9, with the caption "The Library". Source: Science History Institute Archives, Philadelphia, PA / Wikipedia.
