The Fraunces Tavern, at 54 Pearl Street, on the southeast corner of Broad Street, looking east from Pearl St. The original building was erected in 1719 and became a tavern after being bought by Samuel Fraunces, in 1762. In the 18th century the it housed federal offices and it was the place of some historical meetings, including with General George Washington. The building was restored in 1906/1907.
Photo published in a vintage postcard in the 1920s. To the right is the 17-story Verizon Broad Street Building, completed in 1920. The 11-story building 80 Pearl Street (not in this photo) was erected in 1929.
