This was the old Dock Street in the 18th century. The historic Fraunces Tavern, located at 54 Pearl Street, was restored in 1906-1907. Built by Stephen de Lancey and sold to Samuel Fraunces, who established a tavern in the building, in 1762, and owned it until 1785. The tavern served as a headquarters for George Washington and it housed federal offices in the Early Republic.
