Fifth Avenue and Broadway at Madison Square - 1903

Looking up Broadway from Hotel Bartholdi (on the right), near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street. Composition of two vintage postcards published by Rotograph Company.

Madison Square is to the right. Fifth Avenue Hotel is on the left and Worth Monument is in the center. The building under construction seen in the center is the 11-story Cross Chambers Building, at 210 Fifth Avenue (running through to 1130 Broadway), erected in 1903. The Albemarle is on the corner of West 24th Street, adjoining Hoffman House. On the northwest corner of 25th Street stands the 12-story Townsend Building at 1123 Broadway, completed in 1897. The St. James Building, on the southwest corner of 26th Street, built in 1896-1898, is on the site of the old St James Hotel, built in 1857.
