The old Shelton Hotel (now a student housing facility) opened in 1924 at 525 Lexington Avenue, between East 48th and East 49th streets.
The Waldorf Astoria was originally located on Fifth Avenue, from 33rd to 34th streets, but it was demolished to make way for the Empire State Building. The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Park Avenue opened in 1931.
