The New York Times Building - 1874
The old New York Times Building (41 Park Row) in front of the Benjamin Franklin monument, dedicated in 1872, in the Printing House Square. Photograph by Charles K. Bill, circa 1874.
This building existed from 1858 to 1888, when a much taller NY Times Building was erected on the site. It had fronts in Park Row, Printing House Square and Nassau Street. The Potter Building adjoined it to the south. In addition to the New York Times, the building housed other offices: Patent Office, George P. Powell & Co. 's American Newspaper Advertising Agency and others.
On the left, we can see part of the old Tract House.
