Western Union Telegraph Building on Broadway and Dey Street - 1912
The Western Union Telegraph Building at 195 Broadway, corner of Dey Street. The original building was completed in 1875, but a new design in the upper floors was constructed after a fire in 1890. The old mansard roof was destroyed. In 1912, the Western Union Building annex, at Dey Street (on the left), was demolished and the building was razed by 1914 to make way for a new Western Union Building. The Mail & Express Building (203 Broadway) and St. Paul's Chapel are on the right.
Photograph by Irving Underhill, copyrighted 1912, from Library of Congress. This photo was possibly taken in the early 1912, considering the Woolworth Building seen under construction on the right.
