Baccarat Hotel New York, West 53rd Street

The Baccarat Hotel New York is located at 28 West 53rd Street, between 5th and 6th avenues, Midtown Manhattan. It opened in 2016. The hotel is housed in the 50-story Baccarat Hotel & Residences building at 20 West 53rd Street, developed by Tribeca Associates, designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and built in 2014. Baccarat Residences is comprised of 60 condominiums (interior design by Tony Ingrao), above the Baccarat Hotel.

Baccarat is a French luxury house and manufacturer of fine crystal founded in 1764 and located in Baccarat, Meurthe-et-Moselle, France. The company owns two museums: the Musée Baccarat in Baccarat, and the Musée Baccarat in Paris on the Place des États-Unis.

The skyscraper at 28 West 53rd Street replaced the low-rise Donnell Library, built in 1950. A new library space was included in the tower. There is a glass-clad projecting area at the east end of the ground level housing the entrance to the library.

The unique interiors within Baccarat Hotel were designed by the Paris-based design firm Gilles & Boissier, including the salons and the 114 rooms and suites, each decorated with Baccarat crystal and the crimson shade of Baccarat red. The facilities in the hotel include the Baccarat Grand Salon & Bar, wellness center with spa by La Mer and a 55 foot (16 meter) pool. The lobby honors the the legendary Baccarat crystal brand with about 15,000 pieces in glassware and chandeliers. Arrangements of red roses add a touch of color.

The hotel location provides guests easy access to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Empire State Building, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, shopping centers, fine restaurants and many more.
