Shubert Theatre - 1913

The original structure of Shubert Theatre at 225 West 44th Street in the Times Square area. Photograph published in the Architecture magazine, November 1913, about the time the theater was completed.

Shubert Theatre was built for the Shubert brothers and is operated by The Shubert Organization. Booth Theatre is adjacent, behind Shubert Theatre, fronting the West 45th Street. The Shubert and Booth theaters were designed by Henry Beaumont Herts (1871-1933) in the Italian Renaissance style, with similar arrangements.

The auditorium has an orchestra level, two balconies, boxes, a stage behind the proscenium arch and 1,502 seats. The space is designed with plaster decorations in relief.
