People strolling in the fenced Park, the old Common, the Fields or the Green and later City Hall Park. Just over two decades before, the Liberty Poles were erected in this area. The St. Paul's Chapel, erected in 1790, is shown prominently in this painting. Its steeple was finished in 1794. Chatham Street (now Park Row) is on the left. Broadway is on the right. The post and rail fence surrounding the Park was built in 1785.
